It doesn’t matter whether you’re an aspiring artist, maker, author, teacher or blogger (just to name a few), you absolutely, positively must have an email list.
Why, you ask? Because building a list of people interested in what you have to say and what you have to offer is an essential part of making money both online and offline.
The best way to build your list is to offer a “bribe” (a checklist, small ebook, video tutorial, etc.) in exchange for them giving you their email address. As you continue to build your list, it’s important to stay in contact with them on a regular basis by sending them relevant content and offers.
In order to manage your list and email them, you’ll need to have an email management provider. (Under NO circumstances should you attempt to build a list and communicate with them through your personal email account!)
Here are a few things your email management provider should offer:
- Option to have multiple lists
- Option to send messages immediately (often known as a broadcast message)
- Option to set up autoresponders (messages that will be sent automatically at certain times after a person signs up. For example, the first message would go out immediately after they sign up, the second email would be sent a week later, the third one would go out a week after that, etc.
